About This Spot

Stepping into Devonport Barbers feels like entering a calm and inviting nook within the lively heart of Plymouth’s Devonport neighborhood. The space hums with a gentle rhythm that’s both reassuring and unhurried, a haven where careful hands and kind hearts meet the everyday ritual of a haircut. There’s a distinct sense of ease here, a pace that honors the individual needs of each visitor, whether grown-up or child.

What makes Devonport Barbers truly stand out is how thoughtfully it embraces families, especially those with little ones who might find haircuts a challenge. The atmosphere is carefully crafted to be welcoming and patient, filling the space with quiet warmth rather than the buzz or sharp clangs one might expect. Vibrant touches like child-friendly barber chairs have been thoughtfully included to turn a potentially anxious moment into a gentle experience. Screens quietly play familiar cartoons, providing just the right kind of distraction to help young visitors settle in, allowing parents to relax alongside them.

This is a place where staff move with attentive calm, offering more than just a trim or shave—they bring a steady kindness that reassures the most sensitive or overwhelmed clients. The steady kindness here doesn’t rush but listens to how each person feels, guiding the experience in a way that’s quietly supportive. Whether it’s the signature scissor cuts preferred by children who shy away from clippers or the carefully tailored grooming packages for adults, the focus remains on crafting a moment that feels personal and unhurried.

Parked just off Fore Street, Devonport Barbers gently knits itself into the fabric of the community. Returning visitors find comfort in the familiar faces and steady patience, the kind of place where repeat visits feel natural and genuine. It’s not about flashy trends but about creating a welcoming space that reflects the small, thoughtful gestures of everyday care—a reminder that something as simple as a haircut can be an experience of kindness and calm.

My 6 year old really hates getting his hair cut, he finds it really overwhelming and stressful but Carlene is always so patient with him. He doesn’t like the clippers so she does a scissor cut all over and she does a fantastic job. We’ve been going to Devonport Barbers for a few years now and we wouldn’t go anywhere else!! The atmosphere is great in there, they’re both really patient and not rushing. They’ve got loads of toys for the kids to play with in case they’re busy, and they also sell toys, which is a great incentive if your kid hates hair cuts!! Before we left today my son looked in the mirror and said “this is the best haircut I’ve ever had!! 10/10!”

100% recommend. Absolutely fantastic place for my son to get his hair cut. Walked in and we were seen immediately. The lady who cut his hair was friendly, welcoming and very patient with him. First time he's had his hair cut without having to stop. Will definitely use them again. Thanks

My 2 year sat very happily in a little car watching Paw Patrol for his first proper haircut. Was finished before he got restless. Very reasonably priced and we were lucky enough to park right outside. Would recommend and we'll definitely return.

I took my son (Age 2) to devonport barbers today to get his hair cut, my son doesn't like his hair being cut but the girls here were so good with him, he Sat in a car and the girls made the hair cut as quick as possible. It still looked really good even though he was wriggling a lot! 100% recommend bringing your little ones here

Cut mine and my 2 year old sons hair today (first haircut) really friendly and helpful. Son got a certificate and a sweet after having his haircut in a car while watching Toy Story. Overall really pleased with the service, the price and the shop. Oh my haircut was great too!!

3rd time taking my 2 year old and first time he ever wore the cape! I wish I new the stylists name but she is incredible, put my son completely at ease and just powered through even at the times he was slightly irritated. She even managed to use the clippers on his edges which has always been a complete no no. He loved it so much he asked for another haircut the next day!! The cars toys and sweets at the end just makes the whole experience so much less stressful. Highly recommend.
